Dan Tehan lives with his wife Sarah and family on a small farm on the outskirts of Hamilton with their ever expanding family pets: 2 dogs, a cat, numerous chooks and ponies for the children. Dan and Sarah understand the pressures of raising a young family in the country.
With his three brothers and two sisters, Dan grew up on a family farm in rural Victoria. His father ran Merino sheep and Hereford cattle while his mother started her own small business in a nearby town to earn off-farm income.
From an early age Dan’s parents and grandparents taught him that people in rural communities deserve a fair go and that you need to be prepared to stand up and fight for what you believe in.
Dan’s mother represented rural Victoria in our State Parliament, his father was actively involved in the Victorian Farmers Federation and his grandfather helped form the National Farmers’ Federation.
