Direct action on the environment

I will be a strong advocate for direct and practical action to improve our local environment. Western Victoria has an abundance of natural gas and it is essential we provide incentives for electricity generators to accelerate investment and development of gas fired power plants in our region. This will not only dramatically lower carbon emissions but will help develop our region as a clean energy hub and create green energy jobs. Importantly it will also offer local businesses and industries an alternative energy option.

It is also crucial that we protect the future of grass-roots conservationism by providing appropriate levels of funding to local Landcare groups. We must encourage not destroy the grass-roots community groups that roll-up their sleeves and do the practical work to improve conservation in our region.
