“I welcome the announcement of $1.1 million for the upgrade of dialysis equipment and facilities at East Grampians Health Service in Ararat,” said the Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan today.
“I have been advised by the Minister for Health, Nicola Roxon, of funding from the Health and Hospitals Fund Regional Priority Round for EGHS to meet the increased demand for dialysis treatment in Ararat.
“I would like to congratulate EGHS and CEO, Mr Nick Bush, for the huge effort they put in to secure this funding. They were able to put together a compelling case that demonstrated the need for improved services in this area.
The existing dialysis facility was designed to accommodate 2 chairs in 2004 and was later extended to 4. This funding will enable EGHS to build a centre for 6 chairs which will be a much more functional area for nursing staff and patients, and will meet the extra demand for this treatment.
EGHS CEO, Mr Nick Bush said that he was thrilled by the news which will streamline and dramatically improve their dialysis facilities.
“I am looking forward to getting the ball rolling with the building work and we are glad that the urgent need for this funding was recognised,” said Mr Bush.
“We have put in a lot of hard work to attain Federal Government funding and it is great news that we can now progress our development plans and deliver improved care for our patients.”
“I’d like to thank the team here at EGHS, who are all very committed to improving health services for Ararat and our local Federal Member, Dan Tehan for his strong support of this funding application and improved health services in our region,” concluded Mr Bush.
