Federal Member for Wannon Dan Tehan today confirmed that funding totalling $32,102 has been approved until 30 June 2011 for a number of community organisations that provide Emergency Relief services in Wannon.
‘I am pleased to confirm that Community Connections in Camperdown has received $11,392; Community Connections in Warrnambool has received $12,215; the Pyrenees Shire has received $6,103; and St Vincent de Paul in Ararat has received $2,392’, Mr Tehan said.
‘The additional funding will enable these organisations to continue to assist families and individuals whose lives have been affected by the recent flooding. Emergency Relief services help people with essentials such as food, clothing, household items and part-payment of outstanding bills in times of crisis.
‘Ensuring that people in affected areas can get help to meet their immediate needs is an important part of community recovery and Emergency Relief service providers play a pivotal role in this process.
‘I am pleased that several of our wonderful local community organisations have received this funding which will help them continue with the vital work that they do for our community.
