Federal Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan, is encouraging community groups to apply for the current round of NRM Community Action Grants, which are now open for applications.
“Our local community groups do immeasurable good work which benefits a whole range of different people and causes. This round of NRM community grants is for organisations who are contributing to environmental causes,” Mr Tehan said.
“There are grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 for community groups to help protect and conserve their local environment and natural resources.
“Activities such as revegetating landscapes, rehabilitating dunes, removing weeds, controlling pests, and improving sustainable land management practices are eligible, and I encourage relevant community groups to apply.
“It is important that we find practical and sustainable solutions to environmental and agricultural challenges, and these grants are a great way to deliver real action.
“Applications for the 2011-12 NRM Community Action Grants will close on Monday 1 August 2011 and information on how to apply is available at www.nrm.gov.au or by calling 1800 552 008.”
