In late July I launched a national petition, with Sussan Ley, in Warrnambool calling on the federal government to reinstate the ‘Take-a-break’ occasional childcare funding. Ms Ley is the Shadow Minister for Childcare and Early Childhood Learning and was in Wannon to visit childcare and kindergarten facilities.
We launched the petition at the Uniting Church Occasional Care Centre in Warrnambool. Centre Director Liz Sparrow (pictured at right) is concerned that if the funding is not reinstated, she will have to raise fees and some occasional care centres may have to close. If you would like to sign the petition, drop in to my office in either Warrnambool or Hamilton, or email me to request a copy. dan.tehan.mp@aph.gov.au
