“The Australian of the Year Awards provide us with an opportunity to share and celebrate the people in our community that inspire us with pride and appreciation,” said Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan today.
“There are so many fantastic Australians out there doing extraordinary things who deserve to be recognised for the contribution they make to our society. I am sure that there are many people in Wannon who are deserving of recognition and I invite you to nominate these people for the Australian of the Year Awards.
“The awards rely on nominations from the public so it is vital that nominations are formally submitted so that people such as these can be considered in the awards and celebrated for their efforts,” said Mr Tehan.
Australians can submit nominations in four award categories:
• Australian of the Year;
• Senior Australian of the Year (60 years and over);
• Young Australian of the Year (16-30 years);
• Australia’s Local Hero.
Nominations are now open, please drop in to my office in Warrnambool or Hamilton to pick up a nomination form, visit www.australianoftheyear.org.au or obtain a nomination form by calling 1300 655 193.
Nominations close at midnight on 31 August 2011.
