Federal Member for Wannon Dan Tehan is reminding concerned students and families that signed petitions calling for fairer youth allowance for inner regional students are due back on 21 January.
“Copies of the petition are still available from my Warrnambool and Hamilton electorate offices, or can be posted or emailed out to anyone still interested in signing or circulating it,” Mr Tehan said.
“I urge anyone passionate about fairer youth allowance to sign this petition if they have not already done so.
“The closing date is 21 January, and the petitions can be returned to either of my electorate offices at 73 Kepler Street, Warrnambool or 190 Gray Street, Hamilton.
“Regionalābased students struggling to access the Independent Youth Allowance continue to live in limbo while the Senate Inquiry takes place.
“As many students prepare to go to university in the coming months, there will be many in our region that will be forced to stay at home and work for another year in order to qualify for vital government assistance to enable their access to tertiary education.
“I have received over 400 signatures but I still need your help to continue the fight for fairer youth allowance for inner regional students.
“Please call my office on 1300 131 692 for further information or to request a copy of the petition.”
