Federal Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan, has urged locals to heed warnings from local authorities about floods and dangers today as several towns across Wannon have been evacuated or partially evacuated, and roads closed to ensure maximum safety.
“Details of your local emergency radio station can be found on the Office of Emergency Services Commissioner (OESC) website, under Emergency Broadcasters List which is on the right side of the homepage: www.oesc.vic.gov.au
“Our local emergency services personnel are doing their utmost to ensure that people in our community remain safe, and the best thing we can do to help them is to comply with their directions as well as keep clear of any danger zones wherever possible.
“On behalf of the community, I particularly wish to thank our hard-working and dedicated emergency response teams including the local Police, State Emergency Services, Country Fire Authority, local government authorities and all community volunteers as they endeavour to keep our communities safe.
“Everyone involved has done a fantastic job locally over the past few days, and will continue to assist communities and help pick up the pieces for days to come.
“Again, I urge everyone to stay safe, and err on the side of caution if in doubt.”
