The 2016 Budget sets out a clear economic plan for Australia — it’s a plan for jobs and growth. Here are five ways it’s going to benefit the people of Wannon.
1. Better roads and bridges
The Budget delivers more funding for locals roads and highways, with $345 million for Victorian country roads, $21.5 million for the Roads to Recovery Programme and upgrades to bridges in five Wannon local government areas under the Bridges Renewal Programme
2. Tax cuts and tax relief.
Tax cuts and incentives for our small businesses will give the local economy a boost while hard-working families will welcome tax relief that puts more money in their pockets.
3. Help for young jobseekers
The Prepare-Trial-Hire (PaTH) programme will create 120,000 jobs for disadvantaged young people. It will see them get the skills they need to succeed and incentives for business to offer a paid internship then a full-time job.
4. Better mobile coverage
More money to fix mobile phone black spots in Wannon, with an additional $60 million invested in regional areas.
The re-opening of the Ararat to Maryborough rail line will help our farmers get their produce to market more efficiently and benefit from the export opportunities in our Free Trade Agreements.
