Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan is calling for nominations from the local community to celebrate and recognise our volunteers.

Mr Tehan said the “Volunteer Awards give people in Wannon the chance to acknowledge the many individual volunteers, groups and organisations that make outstanding contributions to our local community”.

Volunteering touches every section of our community including, but not limited to our emergency services, health, sport, arts, regional development, tourism, social services and education. The far-reaching contribution volunteering makes, builds strong and resilient communities.

Volunteerism promotes collaboration, encourages participation and contributes to the well-being of individuals and our communities as a whole.

“The National Volunteer Awards recognise the many individual volunteers who contribute to our local community and gives the community the opportunity to say thank you,” said Mr Tehan.

Nominations are sought across the following categories:

  • Young Volunteers
  • Education
  • Group Volunteer
  • Long‐term Commitment to Community
  • Emergency Management
  • Member of Parliament’s Award

Awardees will be recognised at an awards ceremony on 23 November, as part of the Federal Government’s National Volunteer Awards.
