The Colac Regional Velodrome at Elliminyt Recreation Reserve will be the beneficiary of $320,000 in funding from the Coalition Government, says Member for Wannon Dan Tehan.

Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan, said this funding will go towards resurfacing the Colac Regional Velodrome as the first step in the implementation of the Elliminyt Recreation Reserve Master Plan.

“I am very excited to see this significant funding going towards securing the future for such a busy and important regional facility like the velodrome at Elliminyt Recreation Reserve,” Mr Tehan said.

“The Colac Regional Velodrome is badly in need of repair. It is a hub for regional cycling competitions, and as such, funding for the velodrome would be to the benefit of cyclists from all over South-West Victoria.”

“This funding would go towards resurfacing the track, undertaking drainage work to ensure the new surface remains first-class for as long as possible, and would also ensure proper separation between the cycling track and football facilities. It would guarantee a great cycling facility for Colac.”

The resurfacing of the Colac Regional Velodrome at the Elliminyt Recreation Reserve would be the first step in the implementation of the Colac Otway Shire’s Master Plan for the site. This plan currently includes potential improvements to football, netball, cricket and tennis facilities, as well as the velodrome. The Colac Otway Shire has estimated this plan would be worth $5.5 million overall.

“The Coalition Government is very supportive of regional sporting facilities like this one, where people from a large regional area come to participate. That is why it is so pleasing to see this funding go to ensure the future of this facility for many years to come.”
