Tourism in Stawell will get a kick-start thanks to funding from the Coalition Government’s highly successful Building Better Regions Fund.

Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan, said he was excited to see $50,000 from the Building Better Regions Fund being used to help develop a strategic plan for the Stawell Gateway Enhancement Project, which will help identify opportunities for attracting more visitors to Stawell.

“This funding will go to help develop a plan to grow tourism in Stawell so it can become a year-round attraction for people from across Victoria and around the world,” Mr Tehan said.

“Stawell has one of Australia’s iconic sporting events every Easter in the Stawell Gift. What this funding will help achieve is to ensure that people are visiting Stawell right throughout the year.”

“This will help generate new jobs in the Stawell economy, so Stawell can thrive as a wonderful rural city. We have seen great developments start to happen in Stawell, like the Stawell Gold Mine. Developing a plan for year-round tourism in Stawell will build on that momentum.”

The Stawell Gateway Enhancement Project: Strategic Plan will be developed by the Northern Grampians Shire Council, and the total project cost will be $100,000.

This project is part of a $204M total investment of Round 3 of the Coalition Government’s Building Better Regions Fund Program.
