Walking and cycling tracks around Beaufort Lake have been upgraded thanks to funding from the Coalition Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.
Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan, said he was pleased to see how $150,000 of funding from the Coalition Government has contributed to the completion of stage one of the Beaufort Walkability Project.
“It is wonderful to be in Beaufort and see the first stage of this great local project come to fruition,” Mr Tehan said.
“Not only does this project make it easier for both locals and visitors to enjoy the magnificent natural environment in Beaufort, but it also encourages physical activity, which is important to ensuring that we have a healthy population, especially in rural and regional areas like Beaufort.”
The funding, which was granted from the Coalition Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, has gone towards the construction of two walking and cycling paths, as well as signage, seating & bicycle racks. It has also contributed towards ensuring disability access between the railway station and the lake.
“The Coalition Government is committed to making our regions stronger, and this is exactly what projects such as this one do for towns like Beaufort. And we are only able to do this because of the strong economic management the Coalition Government has demonstrated in the last five-and-a-half years.”
