Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan is delighted to announce that nominations for the Wannon Sport and Volunteer Awards are now open.

Mr Tehan said that the awards are a wonderful way to say thank you to the outstanding members of the Wannon community whose actions and efforts that make a positive difference to our region.

The Volunteer and Sport Awards are now in their ninth year, and I continue to be impressed and amazed by the calibre of the entries we receive, said Mr Tehan.

The Sports Awards recognise and showcase outstanding sporting performances, achievements and contributions by community members.

Nominators for the Sports Awards are invited to nominate an individual or team in the following categories:

  • Individual or Team Achievement – Primary School
  • Individual or Team Achievement – Secondary School
  • Individual Achievement – U18 Female/U18 Male
  • Individual Achievement – Open Female/Open Male
  • Individual Achievement – Masters
  • Community Contribution – Individual
  • Community Contribution – Group

The Volunteer Awards recognise and celebrate individual and group volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution and who go above and beyond for their local communities.

Volunteers in Wannon are the fabric of our communities, who often take valuable time out of their day to contribute to community organisations, whether it be in participating in events, committee meetings, fundraising, said Mr Tehan.

I am encouraging the community to nominate the volunteers who make exceptional contributions to our community.

Nominators for the Volunteer Awards are invited to nominate an individual or group in the following categories:

  • Education
  • Emergency Management
  • Environment
  • Group
  • Long-term Commitment to Community Service
  • Members of Parliament Award

Nominations for the 2019 Awards are open until Thursday 26th September, with the awards celebration taking place in Colac during November.
